About Our Site

Our Darwin team provide repair, maintenance and in-service support for the fleet of Armidale Class Patrol Boats. We have multiple locations across Darwin to accommodate our growing diverse team of 95 employees. Our project office is based in the CBD which is in walking distance to public transport, restaurants, schools and offsite parking. The opportunity

The ACPB In Service Support (ISS) Program represents one of the key service projects for Thales Maritime, Asset Management Services (AMS). The ACPB ISS Programme team comprises a core team of approximately 120 Thales employees. Reporting to the AMS Programs Manager, the ACPB ISS Senior Project Manager is accountable for managing all activities associated with the ACPB In Service Support Contract.  This role plays a key customer liaison role and manages all aspects of projects to achieve the defined contractual obligations to agreed budget, schedule and performance outcomes.

What you will be doing

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Planning, organising, leading and controlling the area and staff assigned to achieve outcomes within delegated authorities and responsibilities.
  • Managing the cost, schedule and technical performance, and implementing actions to resolve non-conformances
  • Coaching, supporting and delegating to team members and the whole team to enable them to achieve the work objectives;
  • Promoting One Thales behaviour, fostering teamwork with Maritime and other Thales Country Business Units.
  • Formal risk identification, monitoring and reporting program and ensuring risk mitigation procedures are applied;
  • Developing initiatives that will improve Thales Australia projects, products and services;
  • Preparing and evaluating budgets, expenditure and financial performance metrics;

About you

The successful candidate will possess tertiary qualifications or equivalent in engineering, science or business/commercial discipline with post graduate qualifications in Management and/or Project Management highly desirable.  You will have extensive experience in senior project roles and knowledge and understanding of the Defence Sector in Australia is preferred.  Commercial /contractual acumen will also be key to your success.
