The activity of GTS domain: Security systems, telecommunications, supervision, control & management information and signalling solutions for trains, trams and metros Regarding railway solutions, Thales is the homologated supplier of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana for Axel Counters, Tunnel Security, Energy Saving, SCADA systems and Asset Management. Italy is Thales Group’s competence centre for tramway signalling solutions. The activity of SIX domain: mission critical solutions and applications for assets and citizens security (supervision, control and information management systems) as well as cybersecurity. Thales offers solutions to protect the information systems and critical data of its civilian and military customers and helps its customers to detect and prevent cyberattacks by devising secure architectures from the design stage, overseeing these architectures and ensures that they are kept in secure working order. Italy is Thales Group’s competence centre for Airport security and operations management solutions.

Job Objective

He/She is responsible of design, implementation, set-up, configuration and maintenance of the entire Company networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), Internet, Intranet, Firewall, NAC, WLAN controller, log collector and network elements (including indirectly connected devices and equipment), for all of the Company sites in Italy.

Key responsibilities
 •    Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and their framework.
•    Design, test, and inspect data communications systems.
•    Perform network modeling, analysis and planning.
•    Install hardware such as cables, hubs, routers and wireless adaptors.
•    Develop technology roadmaps.
•    Configure network drivers for software.
•    Analyze, engineer and execute software functions.
•    Develop test plans, implementation plans and project timelines for various projects.
•    Manage and mainly supervise the technology vendors.
•    Stay abreast of how technology infrastructures are currently impacting and driving competitors.
•    Determine production direction.
•    Write functional requirements/specifications documents.
•    Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
•    Upgrade network hardware and software components, as required.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
•    Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or related field with a network engineering focus or equivalent proved experience.
•    Min. 5 years’experience in similar roles.
•    Expert on designing IT networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), Internet, Intranets, Firewall, NAC, WLAN controller, Log collector Splunk, Network Analyzer.
•    Good knowledge of Servers, PC, Data Centre infrastructures and more recent users devices.
•    Strong understanding of network infrastructure, security and network hardware.
•    Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers.
•    Knowledge on ISO 27K1
•    Cisco, Fortigate and Alcatel Certification. Palo Alto, CheckPoint and Riverbed Certifications nice to have.
•    Solid competences in CyberSecurity and SW development.
•    Cloud base security (CASB Netskope, AWS, Web application Firewall Imperva …).
•    Scripting and automation experience: Programming (ie: Python…); Automation (ie: API usage, Orchestrator, Docker...).
•    Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
•    Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products.
•    Ability to work with all levels of the team within and outside of IT and the organization.
•    Team working and flexibility.
•    A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
•    Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Willing to travel when required.
