About Our Site

Our Mulwala site is renowned across the world for producing high quality propellants for defence and commercial customers. With nearly 400 staff on site, a subsidised canteen, and free parking, this is a friendly place to work in a rural setting.

Our Opportunity

The Project Engineer sits within the Capital Projects Group of the Site Engineering Department at the Mulwala Facility ensures delivery of Commonwealth funded capital investment project into the site safely and in compliance with relevant statutory requirements.

The Project Engineer is responsible for undertaking management of engineering projects from the initial business case preparation stage through to implementation and commissioning.


  • Prepare specifications and contracts, assess tenders, and actively participate in the development, implementation and commissioning phases of projects
  • Under limited guidance, manage several projects concurrently using project management methodologies and procedures
  • Develop engineering solutions to process and plant problems both individually and together with others
  • Actively facilitate compliance with HS&E policies and guidelines
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and internal resources

About You

  • Tertiary qualified professional Engineer Chemical, Mechanical or Process coupled with significant experience in a similar or related role
  • Project management capability in delivering projects up to $10Million within a capital works environment
  • Past experience in petrochemical, mining or hazardous material projects a distinct advantage
  • Experienced in managing head contractors, and sub-contractors to carry out site works

Special Requirements

As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.

You will also need to successfully clear a pre-employment medical.
