About Our Site

The Newcastle site is home to our Asset Management and Ship Repair Services teams within our Maritime business. The newly renovated office space is located close to Carrington and offers employee parking onsite. The site offers some beautiful waterviews and is a quick drive to some cafes and restaurants, as well as Newcastle city centre.

Our Opportunity

The Senior ILS Engineer is a leading member of the Thales Asset Management Services (AMS) ILS Functional Group, who reports directly to the AMS ILS Program Manager. He/She is expected to exercise significant collaboration between the Management, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply and Training functions as well as within the wider Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) team. The purpose of the role is provision of Logistic Support Analysis and deliverables for current In-Service Support (ISS) contracts, new bids and ad-hoc work.

The position will demonstrate leadership, logistics engineering skills, knowledge and competencies, individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to satisfy internal and external customer’s expectations for services, products and deliverables, and support the achievement of project and business  obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Active and value adding contribution to the team of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS)  Engineers and Analysts.
  • Active contribution within the Systems Engineering Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
  • Manage Life Cycle Costing Analysis, Logistics Support Analysis (LSA), Reliability, Maintainability, Availability and Testability (RMA&T) activities.
  • Liaise with other ILS team members within the ILS Functional Group and the In-Service Support Project teams to ensure a consistent ILS approach and timely delivery of ILS products to the quality as required under the related contracts and tasking statements.
  • Participate in ILS and project reviews.
  • Day to day line-management of assigned staff
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical/Systems/Mechanical (or similar) Engineering and/or significant relevant technical experience.

Essential Experience

  • A high level of interpersonal, supervisory, organisational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in a commercial organisation associated with the development and delivery of Maintenance, Engineering and Logistics Support Services.
  • Conducting Technical and Support analysis.
  • Understanding of quality systems and procedures.
  • Understanding of the principles of Configuration Management and Systems Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience working in a Defence engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in using LSA/ILS industry standard modelling tools (such as the Windchill Quality Solutions, OPUS10, OmegaPS, SLICwave, Eagle or similar software).
  • An understanding of Obsolescence Management and the associated Engineering Change Process.

The successful candidate will require to undergo an AGSVA Security Clearance application, therefore, this role is only open to Australian Citizens.
