About Our Site

Our Rydalmere site is home to over 500 employees working across Ground Transportation Systems, Maritime and Secure Communication & Information Systems. With an onsite subsidised cafeteria, well equipped gymnasium and free onsite parking our Rydalmere facility is conveniently located close to Parramatta and Ryde. There are also ferry, bus and train stations within easy walking distance.

Our Opportunity

The Senior Project Manager role is positioned within our Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) business unit.  GTS  is a prime contractor and system integrator delivering smarter and safer solutions across Australia’s public transport, rail and road networks. Our solutions focus on increasing train networks safety, capacity, performance and reliability, improving passenger safety, experience and security, and integrating transport systems to evolve to meet future operational needs. Around the world, 8 billion people rely on Thales technologies to make their journeys safe, secure and efficient.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the planning, management and execution of the full project lifecycle.  These activities include:

  • Leading and managing cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to successfully deliver project outcomes to our customer
  • Updating and providing customer project reviews, managing expectations, collaborative behaviours and maintaining sound working relationships with key stakeholders, clients and subcontractors
  • Ensuring a safe working environment for customers and staff by adhering to OH&S policies and procedures
  • Planning, executing and managing implementation activities to meet project schedule, quality and cost targets.
  • Managing project risks as well as financial and contractual contingencies

About You

You hold the following skills and attributes:

  • More than 8 years of Project Management experience within the rail industry (preferred) or a related industry - transportation, infrastructure, aviation
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, leadership & people management experience
  • Experience of managing the full project lifecycle – design, development, procurement, installation, test & commissioning and through life support for projects valued over $ 50m+
  • Ability to operate and execute in a dynamic and transformative environment to successfully deliver project outcomes.
  • Ability to lead, influence and drive effective collaboration within a complex multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Domain knowledge of Rail Systems is essential – i.e. understanding of key processes, understand underlying business drivers/influences, understand domain specific vocabulary.
  • Domain knowledge of Rail Systems, Software & Signalling technologies is desired

Special Requirements

The successful candidate will  need to successfully clear a pre-employment medical and police check.
