Our Rail Signalling and Communication systems are used on metro lines across major cities, and 72,000 kms of route, 52,000 trains per day in 16 countries are controlled by our Traffic Management Systems. Together We deployed the first-ever nationwide ticketing system which processes over 50 million ticketing transactions in 100 cities daily.

Thales in Singapore has been present since 1973, providing state-of-the-art solutions for customers in the aerospace, defence, security and transportation markets. Today, Thales in Singapore employs over 600 people and is home to all regional avionics services, a ground transportation integration centre, and regional innovation hub.

Main Responsibilities
•    Analyse system and customer requirements
•    Drive the architecture design of the entire software system based on requirements
•    Choose the technologies and methodology for the implementation of each components and interfaces in the software solution.
•    Ensure that software architecture stability is maintained throughout the software development lifecycle from Bid to Delivery;
•    Guarantee adherence to in-scope standards, reuse policy and product development plans;
•    Co-ordinate product definition, and assessment of design trade-offs between aspects of cost, customer requirements and technological possibilities;
•    Document the design choices and the related justifications;
•    Involve in technical document writing for bids and projects;
•    Conduct technical presentation to software team and other internal/external stakeholders;
•    Provide knowledge on state-of-the-art software architecting, taking account of future developments;
•    Participate in Software team activities including detailed design review, coding, code review, unit test and debug
Essential Skills & Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
•    Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
•    Minimum 8 years of relevant experience building front end and back end of software and web applications
•    Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in software/web architect or team lead role, designing and developing large-scale software/web solution
•    Knowledge of architectural styles and design patterns
•    Knowledge of various coding methods and computer languages, e.g. Java, C#, Go, JavaScript, Python
•    Experience with various development frameworks
•    Experience with RESTful services
•    Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Microservices Architecture
•    Experience with at least one message queue solution
•    Experience with software system-level integration
•    Experience with data modeling and database design
•    Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services
•    Experience with common software development tools, e.g. JIRA, Git, GitExtension, Visual Studio code
•    Experience in scrum/agile software development methodologies
•    Experience with continuous integration (e.g. Jenkins, Circle CI) and code management repository tools like GITHUB
•    Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
•    Team player
•    Good time-management skills
•    Good interpersonal and communication skills
