An opportunity has arisen within our Customer Service and Support function for a motivated and resourceful Training Designer to join our team in Templecombe. The Training Designer plays a fundamental role in developing training material for new sonar equipment we are currently developing, both classroom based and on the platform.

Key duties:

  • Develop and maintain training documentation in accordance with UK MoD JSP 822 (DSAT)
  • Develop and maintain international training documentation in accordance with contractual and company requirements
  • Develop innovative training design solutions in support of Research and Development programmes
  • Act as a Training Design Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Assist the Training Manager with Bid estimates and proposals.
  • Ensure that all training design meets the contractual and company requirements.
  • Design and produce wall charts and visual aids
  • Assist with design layout of new Training facilities
  • Produce training documentation in conjunction with the company’s technical publications policy and the Technical Publications Manager
  • Liaise with design teams and suppliers to gather source data

Key skills and experience required:

  • Knowledge of UK MoD training design theories/pedagogies and experience translating those theories into course materials
  • Adept at creating assessment criterion
  • UK military training needs analysis experience
  • Fully conversant with the regulations and guidance provided by JSP 822
  • Experience of courseware design and curriculum development
  • Successful completion of a military Training Design course
  • Knowledge of the DSAT design element
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain SC level security clearance
  • Able to travel to other sites when required

In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
