L’Activité Mondiale Systèmes de Transport Terrestre fournit des solutions de signalisation ferroviaire pour les grandes lignes et les transports urbains, des systèmes intégrés de communication et de supervision, des solutions billettiques et les services associés.

Thales fournit des systèmes de commande de trains par télécommunications (CBTC) et des systèmes d’enclenchement destinés au secteur des transports en commun sur voie ferrée à l'échelle mondiale. Le centre de compétences pour la signalisation ferroviaire urbaine est situé au centre-ville de Toronto. Nous sommes le plus grand bureau situé au Canada et nous disposons d’un service pour chaque étape du cycle de vie du développement logiciel (SDLC). Cela comprend le logiciel, le matériel, la conception des systèmes, la vérification et la validation, les opérations, etc. Les équipes de services partagés dans les domaines des finances, des ressources humaines et des technologies de l’information sont également situées sur ce site. The Supportability System Engineer role supports our customer’s in-service CBTC systems, including immediate and long-term Services contracts. This role Defines / Designs customer service solutions, the architecture of the service and the associated warranty and/or service supportability. They will formalize service requirements, in term of scope, cost of ownership and the in-service support of the solution. This will be during the bid phase, optimize and estimate the serviceability, the availability and the life cycle cost. Also during in service support, they will guarantee the service solution's relevance through obsolescence management, planning and execution of in-service support contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Defines / Designs the customer service solution by taking input requirements as defined by the customer
  • Ensures the design of the customer service solution and participates with the Architecture of the solution
  • Bid Planning and Estimating - As a member of the project bid/proposal team, develop strategies, implementation plans, and estimates to provide compliant, cost-competitive warranty and support solutions
  • Provides Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Testability, Safety (RAMTS) studies, Life Cycle Cost Modelling,  OPEX Estimation and ensures the required levels are reached according to customer requirements and THALES needs
  • Participates in bid reviews (or facilitates bid reviews when he / she is the SvEM)
  • Prepares Service deployment, ensures the initial support elements are ready-to-be provided
  • Ensures the documentation is validated by a relevant authority (by the customer when possible)
  • Validates the availability of the Product Life Supply Chain; the initial list of spare parts; the availability of the means made available to the customer (for example customer contact center)
  • Validates the capability of the Support & Test Equipment
  • Obsolescence management - As a key member of the “through life support” committee you will work closely with hardware engineering, procurement, and the Project Line to manage end of life issues with customers including providing adequate notice and alternatives (preparations of Maintenance Bulletins, ‘last time buy’ notifications, upgrades, etc.
  • Guarantees Service solution relevance through product or system lifecycle
  • Takes into account the product or system evolution of configuration (design changes, product or system updates, obsolescence, etc.)
  • Analyses field returns and KPI's, proposes service solution adaptations whenever required

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Systems/Mechanical (or similar) Engineering and/or significant relevant technical experience
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Service/through-life-support role within a complex Hardware/Software intensive project-based company

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in supporting Project bids within a product centric technology company

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Customer service and marketing/sales experience

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a commercial organization associated with the development and delivery of Maintenance, Engineering and Logistics Support Services

  • An ability to understand contracted requirements and the application of Maintenance support specifications and standards - Level 1 to level 5

  • Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle management principles, obsolescence and configuration management requirements

  • High level of interpersonal, organization and communication skills teamed with good attention to detail

  • Understanding of the principles of lifecycle cost estimation and TCO Analysis

  • Strong knowledge of standard computer applications including intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Comprehensive knowledge/experience with Thales products would be an asset

  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • P.Eng licence would be an asset
