In Austria customers in rail transportation, air traffic, cybersecurity and defence missions rely on Thales. Additionally, our expertise in signalling gives people and goods in Central and Eastern European markets, like Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia and Albania, the connected journey they deserve. To support our team in Vienna, we are looking for a:

Hardware Engineer  (f/m)

Junior to experienced

Our  Hardware Engineering department provides services for Thales product developments in the safety-critical area and deals with the further development of interlocking technologies, the ongoing support of the basic technology and the new development of components and systems. The core tasks include the requirements specification, the system architecture, the specification for the mechanical design, the circuit design, the qualification (EMC, shock, vibration, climate) and obsolescence management.

Your responsibilities:

  • Analyze and formulate customer and technical requirements
  • Create technical documentation (specifications, descriptions, manuals, …)
  • Create test specifications, test prototypes and auxiliary test equipment and write test reports
  • Develop analogue schematics as part of superior systems
  • Test and laboratory setup (build up, cabling, ….)
  • Close cooperation with internal and external partners
  • Documentation of development and test results

Your profile:

  • Technical degree (University, FH or HTL) or equivalent experience
  • Experience in usage / application of standards
  • Practical experience in measurement engineering
  • Ability to build up prototype circuits
  • Understand Customer/Manufacturer (maintenability, manufacturability)
  • Ability to work autonomously within in a small team
  • Positive attitude towards unknown topics (product/railway specific knowledge resp. standards)
  • High level of German (B2) and good level of English
  • Full, valid eligibility to work in Austria
